An Elementary Taxonomy of Collected Memory
mixed media installatie, 525 x 300 cm, IICAVAH/IICADOM 2008
The spatial installation An Elementary Taxonomy of Collected Memory is a visual representation of ‘the integrated system’, the archiving system of the IICADOM, which is used to categorise found memories. In this system, the memories (films, photographs and objects) are categorised using keywords (tags) indicating the categories place and action. By doing so, a taxonomic system without hierarchical structure is created to represent ‘the Collected Memory’. The installation is made up of a table with built in audiovisual devices which guides the visitor through the ‘the Collected Memory’ in a pseudo-pedagogical manner.
