About the IICADOM

The International Institute for The Conservation, Archiving and Distribution of Other people’s Memories is an organisation in full expansion. The institute officially started with the conservation, archiving and distribution of memories on june 28, 1980.
The years following the solemn inauguration were dedicated to the development of several techniques concerning the capturing of memories. From this first period, also referred to as the experimental faze, is little known because only vague and incomplete memories were captured during this period. One can say that the first successful conservation of a memory took place around 1985. From that date on memories were captured in a good condition and were archived at a regular pace.

The institute has conducted innovative investigation to the conservation, archiving and distribution of other people's memories since its coming into existence. The institute however is still in full development. In spite of the large efforts of our employees our activities are still limited caused by the scientific restrictions concerning the functioning of the cognitive brain activities.

Some memories, archived at the IICADOM, were ceded voluntarily to our institute; the majority however are lost or found memories. These memories were abandoned by the remembering person and therefore they were doomed to vanish. The institute sees it as his main task to search for new destinations for these lost memories. The memories are saved by the IICADOM and without the intervention of the institute these memories were doomed to be forgotten.

The institute has made a large effort to track down the owners of the memories but in most cases the research was not successful. However, if you recognise yourself in one of our distributed memories and you wish to cancel the further distribution of your recollection, please contact the IICADOM.  Our helpdesk will provide you as soon as possible with the necessary aid.

The IICADOM sees it as its main task to seek for new destinations for those orphaned memories. Therefore an appeal is made to the medical world. Recent research gave prove to the fact that the need for memories on the present day is larger than ever. Our society is not only tormented by diseases like Alzheimer or amnesia, there is also a growing interest to knowledge of our past and a trend towards self-development which results in the fact that we want to conserve our memories more than ever.

The loss of memories, due to disease, traumatic experience or decay by time, these are some of the enemies which the IICADOM confronts on a daily basis. Therefore the IICADOM sees it as one of their main goals to reach out for an as big as possible clientele. In the very near future the techniques, developed at the IICADOM, will also make it possible to save your memories for future generations.

Maybe you yourself have memories of which you think they are really valuable and therefore worthy to share with the IICADOM and the rest of the world. Please do not hesitate to contact the IICADOM. Maybe your memories will soon become a part of the collective memory.

Our distribution department, run by Jasper Rigole, uses different chanals to distribute memories. This department also has an pedagocical function and organizes lectures and exhibitions about the conservation, archiving and distribution of other people's memories. Please check our website regulary for uppdates on our current events.
